The Learning Hive’s Winter Science Class: Anatomy

 

For ten weeks, students, ages 6-10, will explore the human body. In each class we will construct a 3-D model, conduct experiments and engage in hands-on activities. There will be teacher led dissections to compare organs of various mammals. Our class field trip will take us to Cornell Vet School to examine animal anatomy. Materials will be provided for students to construct a life-size body that illustrates the senses and systems learned in class. Topics to be covered: the five senses and the following systems: nervous, skeletal, muscular, circulatory, respiratory and digestive.

 

Day/Time: Mondays, 10-2

Dates: January 24, 31 Feb. 7, 14, 21, 28, March 7, 14, 21, 28, Make-up day: April 4th

Location: Southside Community Center (South Plain Street)

Cost: 10 weeks/ $350 (a sliding scale and barter options possible)
